Built in 2006, Kingfisher Ecolodge is one of the very first eco lodges in Laos, and is located in the middle of Champasak Province, with 60km from Pakse town and 75 minutes drive from the airport. The location offers easy access to the main must-see destinations in the province in a day trip.
Take advantage of the nature surrounding the lodge, being located at the beginning of Xe Pian National park, and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. While staying at Kingfisher Ecolodge guests can enjoy Guided (English speaking) eco activities like trekking, early morning bird watching and elephant riding.
Beautifully appointed guest rooms built on stilts with wood and other natural materials, all are non-smoking rooms. Traditional massage from local villagers is available on request, the cost of the service going directly to the masseuses.
Kingfisher Ecolodge is an ideal place for travelers seeking charm, comfort and convenience in Champasak province with the particular feeling of an accommodation situated in a remote, but yet accessible, rural area of this wonderful part of the country.
Six traditional double room stilt wooden bungalows with spacious verandas and four wood & bamboo eco rooms bordering a wetland in Champasak province. Traditional building materials and workmanship have been blended with modern concepts and architecture. Lighting is supplied by a mix of solar system and grid.

Two story restaurant, where traditional Laos, Thai and western dishes are served in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, is set directly over our serene pond, with the wetlands of Kiat Ngong Ramsar protected area and the Bolaven Plateau in the distant backdrop. In the mornings enjoy breakfast on the terrace. Equally, at lunch and in the evening, a selection of beers, wine and cocktails are also available as the sun descends to complete your stay at kingfisher Ecolodge.
They are conveniently situated for a lunch stop on the way south from Pakse when exploring the nearby sites of Phu Asa, Wat Tomo. They can cater for any group up to 40 people.
Depart in the morning, approx. 08:30 for an exciting cycling tour around the villages near the Kingfisher Ecolodge. We will cycle through several villages along the way to the quaint Lao Gna village. Form here we walk to one or more nearby waterfalls on the border of Dong Hua Sao National Park, where you may have a refreshing swim in the crystal clear water coming from the mountains of the Bolaven Plateau. After a simple picnic lunch, walk back to the village and cycle back to the lodge. We will arrive back in the late afternoon.
All experiences are managed by the villagers of Ban Kiet Ngong, these activities will bring you to the top of Phou Asa or around the village and the wetland.
This activity is now an important source of income for the villagers and it helps them to avoid selling the elephants and discourage wildlife hunting. We are working hard with the villagers to make this activity as responsible and sustainable as possible in light of current thinking.
Kingfisher Ecolodge does not organize this activity, therefore takes no responsibility for it, but they can facilitate guests participation in the activity from the lodge.
They organise different trekking options around Phou Asa mountain. On the half day trek, the trail will take you inside the tropical forest that covers the surrounding area of this famous archeological site. The trek will start from Kingfisher Ecolodge at around 08:30 and will end at the same place at around 11:30.
